Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan sign agreements on Nazarbayev visit

BAKU: The President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev welcomed Kazakhstan’s President Nursultan Nazarbayev and his delegation on Sunday, signing various agreements to boost relations.

Aliyev said “This visit is of great importance for the further strengthening of friendly, fraternal relations between our countries.”

He highlighted that Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan are carrying out bilateral work to strengthen regional cooperation through specific transport, energy projects and projects related to economic development of both countries.

Nazarbayev said “we’re closely connected in terms of our history, culture, and religion. That’s what we have built our relations upon.”

The two countries signed a number of bilateral agreements to enhance cooperation.

Chairman of Azerbaijan Railways and president of Kazakhstan Railways National Company signed an Agreement on strategic cooperation between Azerbaijan Railways CJSC and Kazakhstan Railways National Company in the field of logistics and rolling stock engineering.

Azerbaijani Ambassador to Kazakhstan Rashad Mammadov and Kazakh Ambassador to Azerbaijan Beybit Isabayev signed the Protocol on supplements and amendments to the Agreement on double taxation.

Azerbaijan’s Minister of Economy and Kazakh Minister of Investments and Development signed an Agreement on international road transportation between the two countries.

Azerbaijani Minister of Agriculture and first deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin signed an Agreement on cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of plant quarantine and conservation.

Aliyev also awarded Nazarbayev with Heydar Aliyev Order for his exceptional merits rendered to the development of friendly and co-operative relations between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Azerbaijan.
