China-Turkmenistan Cooperation Committee meets in Beijing

BEIJING: On August 14, 2015, Vice Foreign Minister Cheng Guoping, together with Deputy Foreign Minister Vepa Hajiyev of Turkmenistan, held the fifth session of the Security Cooperation Subcommittee of the China-Turkmenistan Cooperation Committee and consultation between the Two Foreign Ministries in Beijing.

Both sides had in-depth exchanges of views on China-Turkmenistan relationship, high-level exchanges, practical cooperation as well as international and regional topics of common interest. They agreed to earnestly implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, jointly participate in the construction of the “Belt and Road” initiative and enrich the connotation of China-Turkmenistan strategic partnership.

Both sides fully affirmed the new achievements of security cooperation between the two countries, and agreed to step up efforts in research and study on the situation, intensify counterpart exchanges, crack down on the “three evil forces”, drug trafficking and other transnational organized crimes so as to jointly safeguard the peace and stability in Central Asia. After the session, the two sides signed the Minutes of the Fifth Session of the Security Cooperation Sub-Committee of the China-Turkmenistan Cooperation Committee.
